CHOP SUEY GREENS - EADIBLE CHRYSANTHEMUM
C. coramarium
I like to grow edible chrysanthemum for its prolific
yellow flowers that can be used to brighten up salads. The flowers also make a traditional oriental
bitter tea that is good for the liver.
The petals have a slightly bitter flavour, but the leaves are a bit too
bitter for many people’s taste buds. It
is a useful addition to add to stir fries.
The plant is easily grown from seed or cuttings and
once established in the garden it seems to hang around for years merrily
looking after itself.
Text from the roots, Elisabeth Ferkonia (Aus.) PDC
studied with Bill Mollison.
